Hello! Thanks for visiting!

I’m Melanie, corporate copywriter, travel writer, and magazine editor.

Originally from Wiltshire, I left the UK twenty-five years ago and have since lived and worked in Indonesia, Vietnam, Albania, Georgia, Hong Kong, and Spain. No surprises then that I love books about geographical identity, motherland, alienation, outsiders, and language. I’ve spent most of my life in someone else’s homeland.

Much of my writing has been for corporate clients, but fun stuff has appeared in Travel + Leisure, DestinAsian, Venture, Action Asia, CNN International, Cable News International, Inc., Prospect, The Jakarta Post, The Jakarta Globe, Georgia Today, and the Periplus Publishing Group.

I’m currently writing a children’s novel - the manuscript of which won the WriteMentor Novel-in-Development Award 2023, won second place in the Yeovil Literary Prize 2024, was shortlisted for the WriteMentor Novel Award 2025, and was longlisted for both the Cheshire Novel Prize and the Exeter Novel Prize in 2025.
